Despite being a yearly tradition, Salem, Virginia’s Annual Gingerbread Festival always divvies out a freshly baked experience that the whole family can enjoy. This year’s notable event is happening on Saturday, December 6.
The festival will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on location at Longwood Park and the Salem Museum. The aforementioned museum is where you will find the famed Gingerbread Contest that the festival is designed around. In addition to the anchoring contest event, the festival features an array of other fun callouts. A host of vendors will be on location throughout the day, providing numerous shop and browse opportunities to consider in a broad range of categories to boot.
Other exciting draws include a marshmallow roast, cookie decorating, kid/family activities, face painting, and so much more. And don’t forget that Santa and Mrs. Claus plan to be in attendance, also. Additional celebrity appearances to expect include Sparky the Fire Dog, Mugsy from the Red Sox, and Rocco from Roanoke College.
Making its debut at this year’s event will be the iconic Wienermobile. Here’s your opportunity to meet and mingle with adorable dogs from the RCACP and maybe even welcome a new addition into the family.
