Christmas at Calleva Farm is back for a festive 2025 encore. Based in Dickerson, Maryland, the Christmas event, which first launched last season, is already on the way to becoming a beloved new annual holiday tradition.
The inaugural transformation of the farm into a Christmastime endeavor has been a carefully cultivated concept, five years in the making. The initial culmination behind it was the creative work of the Markoff Family, renowned most for their annual Markoff’s Haunted Forest setup of great notoriety. While the aforementioned boasts an ongoing tenure spanning more than 30 years, their Christmas concept is still new. However, things are already off to a great start, particularly in terms of rising popularity and the experiences to be had on a visit here.
The overall Christmas Farm comprises many components, with the anchoring attraction, of course, being the Christmas Trail. The beautifully adorned walking trail features various themed, lighted, and decked-out displays inspired by timeless Christmas movies and nostalgic scenes straight out of holiday literary classics. And because you’re participating in the walkthroughs yourself, you’re in the heart of all the action!
While the trail is a ticketed attraction onsite at Calleva Farm, the full Markoff’s Christmas Farm experience includes plenty of other free-for-all endeavors to check out here as well. There’s the featured Christmas Village, for example, which opens as early as 4 p.m.
Here’s where you’ll find Santa, ready in his sleigh, along with a host of other holiday happenings to explore. Play free games like Max Antler Toss for a chance to win a free prize or take a “shot” at Ralphie’s Gallery for a lollipop. Visit the Elf Workshop and get creative with snowflake crafting. Or you can write letters to Santa. Be sure to include your full name and address to receive a personally written response!
Shop or browse the many unique vendors featured via the Christmas Market. There will be 10 tantalizing stops in all, with each stall offering a delightful array of boutique gifts, handcrafted ornaments, and other seasonal delights.
Not to be overlooked are all the enticing treats to savor. From hot chocolate and cider to homemade donuts, churros, sliders, sausages, and sandwiches, you’ll not want for foodie fuel or warming beverages to keep you going.
From the accenting glow of bonfires and festive music to all the onsite happenings, you may be wondering if the already-enchanted atmosphere can get any more Christmasy. Well, it does, as Markoff’s Christmas Farm also sells trees onsite. All of the available trees are carefully handpicked Fraser Fir trees direct from North Carolina, ranging in height from 7 to 10 feet.
