So far, I’ve covered several Easter events going on throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, but there are still plenty of others to explore this weekend and next. The scene unfolding in greater Gettysburg, for instance, promises a host of “egg”citing Easter Egg-related endeavors you won’t want to miss. Here are eight great events to check out.
Annual Gettysburg Easter Egg Hunt
The Annual Easter Egg Hunt in Gettysburg (made possible by Empower Martial Arts) is back and better than ever! Taking place today, March 23, on location at the Fireman Pavilion at the Rec Park in Gettysburg, this year’s event promises a return of all its conventional favorites, including great food and visits by the Easter Bunny. But something new is happening as well—a live D.J. will be onsite to keep things “hopping” throughout the day. Of course, the main featured attraction is the “Egg-Stravagant” Easter Egg Hunt, boasting thousands of colorful hidden eggs. Special golden eggs will be tucked away also, and those come with extra special prizes!
Easter Egg Hunts will be divided by age group, beginning with ages five and under at 9 a.m., followed by six to nine at 10 a.m. Ages 10 to 12 will be at 11 a.m. Visit the website link to register and learn more.
Easter Fun at the Outlet Shoppes at Gettysburg
The Outlet Shoppes at Gettysburg want everyone to “Hop on Over for Easter Fun” today, March 23, between noon and 3 p.m. Stop by the Food Court to take part in a wide range of fun follies, including face painting and balloon artistry. And as you probably guessed, the Easter Bunny will be live and onsite as well for meet and greets and photo ops. FBC Easter Egg Hunt
Another fun consideration today is the First Baptist Church of Gettysburg’s Egg Hunt and Celebration. Starting at 11 a.m., kids up to 12 years of age are invited to take part in an Easter Egg Hunt laden with thousands of eggs and plenty of prizes to go around. Mister Ed’s Easter Egg Hunt& Bunny Party
One of the most eagerly anticipated holiday events each year at Mister Ed’s Elephant Museum & Candy Emporium is the onsite Easter Egg Hunt & Bunny Party. Always held on the Saturday before Palm Sunday, the event typically welcomes over 400 children, who come out to participate in an all-out Easter Egg Hunt featuring more than 10,000 candy-filled eggs and other prizes. Additional fun offerings happening onsite include coloring contests, face painting, and visits with the Easter Bunny, of course. While the event is free, registration is required. St. James Lutheran Gettysburg Annual Easter Egg Hunt
Tomorrow, March 24, St. James Lutheran Church in Gettysburg too will hold its yearly Easter Egg Hunt. The location for the event will be at the Hartley Residence in Aspers, just 18 minutes from the church. Enjoy family-friendly fun for all ages throughout the day, including a picnic and even onsite fishing at the resident pond, The Egg Hunt will take place at 1:30 p.m. with the picnic time running between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Note that there will also be a WaterLife worship service in honor of Palm Sunday to start things off at 10:45 a.m. that morning. Adult Easter Egg Hunt
Why should kids have all the fun? Adults like Easter Egg Hunts too. That’s why Adams County Winery is holding an Adult Easter Egg Hunt on their grounds on March 30. Exclusive to guests 21 years of age and older, the Easter Egg Hunt will get underway at 11 a.m., allowing competitors 15 minutes to collect as many plastic Easter Eggs as they can find, hidden throughout the vineyard. Most of the Eggs contain special prizes inside, such as vouchers, redeemable cheese platter gifts, wine glasses, tote bags, and other select Adams County Winery merchandise. One lucky grand prize winner will receive a basket full of goodies, (gourmet chocolates and sweets from Cherry’s Chocolate Studio) along with a gift certificate offering a choice of either a dinner for two or an overnight stay at the Farnsworth House.

An Eisenhower Easter Egg Roll
Move over White House Easter Egg Roll, because the Eisenhower National Historic Site in Gettysburg is presenting its first-ever Easter Egg Roll on March 30, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. In addition to the main event, various fun games and a scavenger hunt will also be presented on location. All activities and events can be completed on a rolling basis.
Holding an Easter Egg Roll at the Eisenhower National Historic Site is a most befitting decision. Having been started by President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1878 originally, during both World Wars and the Great Depression years, many presidents had chosen to forgo the White House Egg Roll altogether. It was none other than President Dwight D. Easter Egg Dying at Battlefield Bed & Breakfast
What better way to kick off “Easter Eve” than by dying eggs for the Easter Bunny to hide the next morning? That’s what’s taking place at Battlefield Bed & Breakfast on March 30, between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. The event welcomes children of all ages to partake in the colorful practice of dying eggs on the deck of the Solarium.
