Others offer on-site opportunities to celebrate fall follies in the form of festivals laden with lots of hands-on activities that provide fun for the whole family.
An excellent opportunity for the latter can be found over in Street, Maryland. It’s Falling Branch Farm & Brewery’s acclaimed PumpkinFest.
Don’t let the locale fool you. While Falling Branch Farm & Brewery may be more renowned for its finer offerings and on-premises taproom, they’re also a family-friendly, kid-friendly, and pet-friendly establishment. By origin, they are a family-owned and operated farm, having been originally established as Highland Heights Farm in 1924.
While playing host to various events and engagements year-round, PumpkinFest stands out as one of their most popular presentations every autumn. This past weekend marked the grand seasonal debut with dozens of delights to boot.
Their ovation-worthy options range across many different formats, most of which are suitable for all ages unless otherwise indicated. Timeless farm follies to enjoy throughout the festival’s weekend runtimes include hayrides, visiting the resident pumpkin patch, getting lost in a corn maze, scarecrow-building, making friends with farm animals, face painting, crafting activities, and more. Live music will be ongoing as well!
As always, you can enjoy an array of enticing eats via food trucks along with the brewery’s own house specials. These include alcoholic and non-alcoholic products alike. Featured hits include a special pumpkin beer and seasonal hard ciders. More universal suggestions include refreshing apple cider slushies that even the kiddos will like!

PumpkinFest is entirely free. Visit now, any weekend, through October 25. Hours run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
While festival festivities wrap up for the day at 6 p.m., regular taproom hours will remain in place at usual operational times. The taproom is open until 9 p.m. on Saturdays and until 7 p.m. on Sundays.
