Do you just love lavender? Then, you’re in luck because the Dixon Family Farm in St. Mary’s County will once again play host to its annual Lavender Days Festival Weekend. Now in its fourth year as a highly anticipated event, this year’s offering will take place on Saturday, June 13, and on Sunday, June 14.
Come on out to the farm for family-friendly fun and follies to charm and delight everyone in your group. Guests are invited to wander the blooming lavender fields and even cut and create their own U-cut floral arrangements.
There will also be ongoing farm tours, distilling demos, workshops, and numerous other activities all weekend. Special workshops to take note of include Lavender Wreath Workshops at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. (both days), Lavender Wreath or Flower Crown Workshops at 3 p.m. (both days), and Lavender Landscape Painting at 2 p.m. (both days).
Live music will keep the scene hopping, and food trucks will provide fueling refreshments. Featured performers lined up for the event include: Valeria Stewart, On Bleeker Street (Simon and Garfunkel Tribute Duo), GrooveSpan Trio, and kid-friendly performances as part of Kids Day (noted below).
Featured food trucks that will be onsite during the event include the following: Cousins Maine Lobster (both days), Scratch Mobile (both days), Cookielyn (Saturday only), Judy’s Food Express (Sunday only), and B Sweet Bites (Shave Ice) (both days).
Sunday is Kids Day—an especially rewarding occasion for families with children. Featured offerings for Kids Day include face painting with Renu’s Fun Faces, Mary’s Go ‘Round Petting Zoo, and a magic show. And other delights by Crickett the Entertainer. All these and more are included with admission on Sunday.
Eager fans take note of an additional lavender-laden opportunity on select evenings at Dixon Family Farm. It’s their Lavender Nights Dinner Series.
This ongoing dinnertime experience lets you enjoy an intimate outdoor meal located directly within the farm’s own famed lavender fields. It’s a charming delight that knows no comparison, with candlelit tables, elegant linens, padded seating, a scrumptious chef-prepared seasonal plated dinner, followed by a delicious dessert, live music, and an unforgettable evening to cherish. A chilled bottle of lavender lemonade and a fresh lavender bundle to take home are also included in the package.
The first of these Lavender Nights Dinners will occur on June 6. This will be followed by an engagement on June 20 and then another on June 27.
The farm shop will be open and eager to do business during both the Lavender Days Festival and the Lavender Nights Dinner series. Be sure to stop by and check out novelty finds, including luxury bath and body products, handcrafted soaps, and seasonal goods made with lavender essential oil (steam-distilled right here on the farm). Fresh-cut lavender bundles and a curated selection of farm-inspired gifts are also available.
The 4th Annual Lavender Days Festival will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (both days). All dinner engagements take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Reservations are required for dinner.
