Looking for a cool carnival-themed festival to attend in the dead of winter? Then come on down to Harbor Point, in Baltimore, Maryland, this Saturday for an event that gives new meaning to the word “chill.” It’s the one and only, long-awaited carnival-inspired Harbor Point Ice Festival, and it’s happening one day only!
The festival will take place on January 24, at Harbor Point Central Plaza between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. And admission is free for any and all to come on down and experience Harbor Point’s most amazing transformation into a winter wonderland spectacular.
Frosted frivolities will be featured throughout the day. Heading the list will be a series of live ice carving demonstrations, happening onsite at various times throughout the day. Come out and gawk in amazement as Ice Labs transforms mundane frozen blocks of ice into masterfully intricate works of art.
In addition to watching the transformation take place before your eyes, there will be plenty of already-complete sculptures to browse.
Keeping true to the carnival ambiance will be a range of acrobatic feats and fancies. Baltimore Hoop Love will be out and about, featuring their famed living statue performers and impressive stilt walkers.
Michael Rosman’s Old Bay Circus Company will also be on location, forever awing and inspiring onlookers with breathtaking tightrope acts and unicycle tricks. Chi Akano will be divvying out their own aerial eye candy acts as well. And for dog lovers, you get to enjoy special “canine performances” with Circus Stella.
If all the aforementioned wasn’t already entertainment to take you above and beyond, DJ 7oey will be on-site as well, keeping the beat steady and chill as you dance throughout the day.
As is always the case at Harbor Point, you can expect to find delicious food and drink options all around. The list includes Cravings Potato Truck, Koshary Corner, Funnel Fare, and more.
Stay warm by heading to Beverages by Bar Movement for a specialty hot drink. As part of the daylong festival, they will even be offering a kiddie hot cocoa presentation for the under-21 crowd (or those kids at heart not looking to be “spirited away” per se). Bolder picks include their featured Apple Cinnamon Old Fashioned hot toddy and a mezcal hot cocoa.
Remember, in addition to all the happy happenings unfolding in light of the festival, you can still enjoy the same great experiences of shopping, dining, and strolling about Harbor Point this weekend. Once again, admission is free, and even well-behaved dogs are welcome to attend!
Although attendance is free, parking fees do apply depending on your commute and where you choose to park. You may take advantage of a special $10 parking offer on event day at Harbor Point, available at the Allied (Pink) Garage and Purple Lot. Please note the $10 rate is only applicable during posted event hours. Discounted ADA-accessible parking/access to the Central Plaza is available in the Lower Constellation (Red) Garage.
