Are you craving something new to deep-dive into in Ocean City, Maryland? Let me offer you some food for thought; head on over to Northside Park on Saturday, September 6, for the highly anticipated, first inaugural Ocean City Seafood Festival.
This is an all-new food fest making its first-ever debut in what Beth Laverick of B Scene Events and the Town of Ocean City hope will become an annual occurrence. Established in 2014, B Scene Events has been successfully producing festivals and events throughout Maryland for the last decade. But it was only a year ago that Ocean City Tourism contacted Laverick with the prospect of creating a seafood festival unique to the town.
Drawing inspiration from her successful Susquehanna Wine and Seafood Fest in Havre de Grace, Laverick has handpicked from various regional restaurants and food establishments throughout the greater Ocean City area to showcase and cultivate special menus featuring their favorite seafood selections.
Offerings will range in everything from steamed crabs, grilled oysters, fish tacos, and other handhelds. Also, in addition to sensational seafood-inspired selections, both local and national wineries and breweries are providing spirited complements to pair perfectly with whatever seafaring fare you dive into.
Featured participants will include Baywater Seafood, Boxhill Crab Cakes, Captain’s Galley Crab Cake Shack, Coastal Salt, Fallen Pine Oyster Company, Flamingo Cosat, Jimmy’s Famous Seafood, Hooper’s Crab House, Macky’s Ocean City Taphouse Bar and Grille, Papi’s Tacos, Saltwater 75, Seaside Sweets, and the Sterling Tavern. Chefs will be on location to provide festivalgoers a rare opportunity to catch live cooking demos, ask questions, and garner expert advice, tips, and insights into cooking and preparing seafood.
The Ocean City Seafood Festival kicks off at noon and will run throughout the day, concluding at 8 p.m. All ages are welcome to attend, with tickets starting at $15 for ages 17 and older. Ages 16 and under are admitted free of charge.
Because this is a family-friendly event, you can expect good, clean fun and entertainment to keep everyone in the gang amused and enthused throughout. The kids, especially, will find contentment in the Kids Zone set up just for them. There will also be various artisan vendors, a VIP tent, and plenty of live music to keep the scene buzzing and thriving. The musicians slated to perform include the 8 Ohms Band, the Players Band, and Tumblehome Band.
