There’s no shortage of great Fourth of July celebrations slated for Friday throughout the State of Maryland. But over in Frederick, Maryland, one such honoring is more than just about celebrating America’s birthday. It is a tribute to the brave men and women who serve with diligence and courage in the never-ending quest to protect life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
They are our hometown heroes, and they risk their own lives every day so that we may all have better ones ourselves. Therefore, such an honorary event is not only appropriate but is long overdue, to say the least.
On Friday, July 4, 930 WFMD Free Talk Radio will bring you their Salute to Our Hometown Heroes. Presented by Overhead Door, Salute to Our Hometown Heroes will take place at Culler Lake on W 2nd Street and run through the day between noon and 8:30 p.m. With the radio station having welcomed a different Hometown Hero into the studio to interview each week, this upcoming culmination of the ultimate honoring and patriotic celebration.
Whatever your age, all are welcome to join in the excitement! Look out for the WFMD Broadcast Booth near the lake and even meet and mingle with your favorite hosts. Bob Miller, Tim May, Chris Michaels, and Frank Mitchell will all be there!
You’ll also get to meet (and thank) all the Hometown Heroes in attendance. Take note that every participating hero will receive VIP event seating. The first 50 First Responders & Veterans will receive an Airtron camping chair.
There will be free WFMD swags and giveaways ongoing throughout the day. Special awards will be presented in the following categories: Officer of the Year by the Frederick Police Department, Firefighter of the Year by the Frederick Fire Department, and Deputy of the Year by the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office. It’s sure to be a blast!
