It’s that time of year again—time for the long-awaited Mid-Atlantic Seaglass Festival to make a triumphant return! Now in its 18th year as a beloved annual tradition to kick off the summer beach season, the 2025 installment of the Mid-Atlantic Sea Glass Festival is happening this weekend, June 7 and 8, on Shipcarpenter Street in Lewes, Delaware.
Made possible by Lewes Historical Society, the two-day festival provides a profuse array of delightful endeavors to be enjoyed by attendees and participants alike. More than 70 regional and local sea glass and coastal-themed artists will be welcomed to the event, showcasing a vast compilation of items incorporating sea glass as the featured medium. From masterfully displayed works of art to beautiful home décor, jewelry, sculptures, paintings, photography, and more, you’ll be in awe at all the breathtaking marvels. Other accompanying media-made items to be featured include ceramics, wood, and various metals.
Many of the collection collaborations will be on sale. Antique glass variations will also be displayed and available for purchase.
To those in possession of some remarkable sea glass makings, take note; experts from the Delmarva Antique Bottle Club will be on location all weekend. They’ll be available for onsite appraisals, identifications, and even revealing the history and origin of your pieces.
In addition to crafters and appraisers, other sea glass events will include active glassblowing demos, lectures by professionals, and other highlights. On a more centralized historical nautical note, ongoing educational presentations will be scheduled too, spotlighting subjects that include shipwrecks, ocean and bay conservation, and sea glass identification methods.
Plenty of activities and events will be ongoing to keep the good times rolling all weekend long. There will be live entertainment and music, of course, not to mention a Family Activity Area set up for festivalgoers of all ages and interests. And because all happenings are based around the Historical Center campus, many local shops are getting in on the act, including some of the area’s finest food vendors to keep you plied with plenty.
The Sea Glass Festival will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days (rain or shine). Tickets are $10 a person. Children 12 and under are admitted free of charge.
