With Easter right around the corner and spring in full swing, we’re hearing a lot about Easter Egg Hunts and other hopping happenings of a similar nature. But here’s an exciting egg endeavor of a different kind. It’s Maryland Eggfest 2025, and it’s taking place on April 12, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Kelly Moore Sheds & Marketplace in Williamsport, Maryland.
An annual event four years in the making, Maryland Eggfest is the ultimate springtime kickoff. It is, first and foremost, a celebration of those impressive Big Green Egg ceramic grills that seemingly do it all. In addition to grilling, they serve as all-in-one ovens, smokers, and roasters. Their most distinguishable egg shape is another fun feature to boot.
On a secondary note, it’s no coincidence that Maryland Eggfest is held in tandem with the return of warmer weather. At a time when most folks are getting back into the grind of outdoor cooking, it’s a most befitting move to feature Eggfest this time of year. Furthermore, the whole “Egg” classic connotation is so iconic of the Easter season.
The celebration extends beyond just commemorating the Big Green Egg, however. It’s also about honoring local area farmers, crafters, and small businesses. Many will be in attendance vending their unique goods, products, and special services. In keeping things “egg”ceptional, special attention is even given to the contributions of keeping backyard chickens.
The event also serves as a sock drive to benefit Children In Need, Inc. of Washington County. Therefore, attendees are encouraged to bring a pair or pack of new children’s or young adult socks to be donated.
The daylong festival comprises a host of onsite endeavors to enjoy, ranging from cooking contests in a broad range of categories, cooking demonstrations (and tastings), lectures, live entertainment, and plenty of pleasing pastimes and activities for children. Included is, you guessed it, an onsite Egg Hunt for ages 10 and younger. For this, children bring their own baskets or buckets to gather Easter Eggs in, which will be hidden throughout the Crafters & Farmers Market. As “egg”citing as the aforementioned event will be for the kiddies in attendance, the main attraction for older folks will, of course, be the ongoing cooking competitions throughout the day. Events start bright and early, with doors opening at 10 a.m. All contestations will be cooking on the provided Demo Big Greens.
