It’s twice as nice delights in Ocean City, Maryland, this weekend as two annual events return to the scene. You have Dreamfest, which runs from January 16 through 19. Then there’s the Delmarva Art Expo, taking place January 17 through 19. Conveniently enough, both will be held on location at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center—renowned for being the area’s ultimate state-of-the-art event haven. Featuring 214,000 square feet of meeting and event space, the building is also home to the official Ocean City Visitors Center and the premium Performing Arts Center, which opened back in 2014 to provide the best in local, regional, and national musical acts, plays, and other forms of entertainment. It features a 1200-seat auditorium, in-house dressing rooms, a concession area, and a box office for ticket sales.
About Dreamfest
Now in its second season, Ocean City’s newer Annual Dreamfest festival is a multi-day showcase celebration of music and entertainment in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. That’s why it spans all of Martin Luther King Weekend and longer.
Every evening marks a different musical or entertainment-ticketed event held within the aforementioned Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. While all are diverse in their own right, each one shares in the objective of celebrating unity and world equality—a befitting tribute to King and his dream.
The January 16 opening will begin with the comedy show Bored Teachers: The Struggle Is Real! Ticket price options range in price from $55, $45, and $35, depending on seating.
The evening of January 17 will feature a wonderful musical showcase by the world-renowned Morgan State University Choir. Tickets are $17.95.
January 18 presents a musical tribute so bad it’s good. It’s the Who’s Bad: The Ultimate Michael Jackson Experience—the longest-running Michael Jackson tribute band. Tickets are available in two price tiers depending on seating—$45 and $55.
January 19 packs the sweetest sendoff with the 50th Anniversary of Why Can’t We Be Friends Tour. Tickets for the performance are $45.
About the Delmarva Art Expo
While the Performing Arts Center will present nightly entertainment as part of Dreamfest, the convention center’s exposition area will host the 8th Annual Delmarva Art Expo during the day. Come out between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. January 17 through 18 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on January 19 to see some of the Mid-Atlantic region’s greatest, most versatile artists and artisans, all gathered together in one place!
Presented as a juried art show, works on display showcase various mediums, themes, styles, and techniques, creating a profuse and versatile lineup. It’s handcrafted mastery at its finest, featuring local talents hailing directly from the vicinity and those making the trek from further north or south of the coast. This year’s participants include the following:
