Spending the Christmas season at the Greenbrier has been a long-held annual tradition, so near and dear to the hearts of many families far and wide, for several years now. They even offer detailed packages with customizable onsite activities to suit your family’s interests based on your scheduled stay and the duration you book your accommodations for.
The myriad featured offerings are versatile and will be ongoing throughout Christmas week. To better illustrate what’s happening during the 2024 installment, I’ve compiled this detailed summary of their slated itinerary of events.
Monday, December 23, presents the first batch of scheduled holiday happenings. The first matter of business for the day will be Photos with Santa. This will take place as a two-hour session from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and is complimentary for all registered guests. Concurring at this time, between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., will be their fun and festive Family Christmas Tree Decorating Contest. This is, again, a complimentary offering. For the over-21+ crowd, take note of Merry Mint Mixology, happening from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. The cost is $55 a person. This very same timeslot will be when Tea Time Ornament Decorating occurs, at $40 per person. The last event for the evening will be a free Family Bingo game at 8 p.m.
Scheduled offerings will get underway bright and early on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, with their “Reindeer” Fun Run at 8 a.m. This is a complimentary event. Puzzles and board games will begin at 8 a.m. also and will be available all day long. Between 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., there will be an Art Alive Children’s Painting Workshop presented for children six to 12 at $55 a child. From 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., folks 21 and older get to join in the Have Your Cake & Wine Too social event. The cost is $75 a person. There will be a free Key to Adam live performance from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and a traditional Yule Log Ceremony at 5:15 p.m. (also free). An onsite Christmas Eve Service will commence at 5:30 p.m. From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., a Season’s Greetings Dinner will be provided. The cost to attend is $125 per adult and $55 per child (ages four to 12).
Christmas (Wednesday, December 25) will be a pretty low-key day with free puzzles and board games available all day long. Another complimentary event, the live entertainment presentation of “Here Comes Christmas,” will take place at 2 p.m. Then join in the fun of the free Holiday Scavenger Hunt from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Puzzles and board games will again set the stage on Thursday, December 26, followed by the Christmas Cookie Decorating Workshop between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. This is open to everyone aged eight and older at the cost of $40 a person. Another spirited endeavor, Hot Chocolate & S’mores Mixology, will be available to ages 21 and older from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $55 per person. Multiple “Under the Star Lab Dome” free hour-long offerings will take place in the hotel’s indoor planetarium throughout the day, beginning at 1 p.m. and concluding at 5 p.m. The last scheduled event for the evening is a Christmas Cookies & Wine Pairing from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. This is available to persons 21 and older at $75 per person.
Expect puzzles and games again on Friday, December 27, with free Family Bingo taking place at 11 a.m. More “Under the Star Lab Dome” offerings will occur throughout the day, beginning at 1 p.m. and lasting through 5 p.m. There will be another Art Alive Children’s Painting & Craft Workshop for children between 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. ($65 a person). Anyone 12 and older can join the Family Pickleball Tournament from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the cost of $35 per participant. There will be a Winter Wonderland Dinner Party from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for the price of $95 an adult and $55 per child (ages four to 12). Then, close out the evening with a free Family Entertainment Show at 8 p.m.
Saturday, December 28, again begins with puzzles and games, followed by another Art Alive Children’s Painting & Craft Workshop from 10 a.m. to noon. Consider a complimentary Holiday Scavenger Hunt from 11 a.m. to noon, then another one of the ongoing “Under the Star Lab Dome” options, offered between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Another Merry Mint Mixology will be held for guests 21 and older at 2 p.m. (price $55 a person), along with another Family Pickleball Tournament from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Over-21 guests take note of A Merry Time with Cheese, Charcuterie, & Wine between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the cost of $85 per person. Then brace yourself for another Winter Wonderland Dinner Party from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and an encore of the free Family Entertainment Show at 8 p.m.
Sunday, December 29, 2024, begins on the same note, with puzzles and board games at 8 a.m. followed by another Art Alive Children’s Painting & Craft Workshop from 10 a.m. to noon. Another Family Pickleball Tournament will occur between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., followed by ongoing “Under the Star Lab Dome” offerings beginning at 1 p.m. Free Family Bingo will take place at 2 p.m., followed by the Cookie Decorating Workshop & Meet the Ballerinas event between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. This is for anyone aged eight and older, at the price of $40 a person. A presentation of The Nutcracker Ballet will run from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The cost is $25 per adult and $15 for children four to 12.
Greenbrier Christmas packages start at $725 a night, based on double occupancy with a two-night minimum stay requirement. In addition to this package, there are others to consider as well, including their New Year’s Celebration offer. Note that there is a three-night minimum stay requirement in place for those staying through the dates of December 30 and 31.
The special Christmas at Greenbrier package is not available in the Windsor Club, multi-bedroom cottages, Estate Houses, or multi-bedroom suites. Furthermore, it only applies to new leisure reservations and is not valid for existing group or leisure reservations. The going rates apply solely to traditional room designations.
Also, take note that the Christmas package includes being served a buffet breakfast in the Main Dining Room each day of your stay. Made-to-order items and in-room dining orders are not covered.
